第一回チャリティー展「Art for people」

SMILE JAPAN is shortly back!

とてもご無沙汰しております、メンバーの河原奈苗です。最後の更新は二年前だったんですね・・あれから西村夕貴と河原奈苗は2012年に日本へ帰国し、森下和子はロンドンに残りそれぞれイラストレーターの活動をして少しバラバラになってしまいました。

この度、ほんの二日間ですが、SMILE JAPANが東京のチャリティー企画に参加することになりました。西村夕貴が銀座にあるギャラリーに所属する友人よりチャリティー企画の展示会にお誘い頂いて、SMILE JAPANとして出展するのはどうかという提案が出ました。私たちのも含め今まで参加してくれた作家ポストカードの100円販売を致します。場所を提供して頂いたアーティストの上谷知沙子様、純画廊様、ありがとうございます。ぜひとも足を運んでください、お待ちしています。

2011年3月11日、東日本大震災が起きました。あまりに大きな被害に立ちすくみ、途方にくれました。しかし、あの日以来多くの人が自分にできることは何か考え実行しようともがくようになったのではないでしょうか。作家の私たちにできることは「アーティストとして世界を見る。」「今、起きていることに敏感になる。」ということにつきます。無関心ではいられないのです。このチャリティー展では、収益の半分を下記の機関に送付致します。みなさんは、ぜひお気に入りの一枚を見つけて下さい。作家とその作品を購入していただいた方の双方が被災地や助けを必要としている人たちの支援者になることができます。（上谷知沙子）

Hello! I'm Nanae who is the one of SMILE JAPAN, our last post was two years ago... Yuki and I are back to Japan now and Kazu is still in London, we're actually separated but having each activities as illustrators.

This weekend, we're joining to two days charity event. Yuki was invited to that by her friend who belongs to a gallery in Ginza in Tokyo, and she told us whether SMILE JAPAN can join. We're going to sell postcards (one card is only 100yen!) including SMILE JAPAN past attended artists in London and ours. We appreciate to have a space providing by an artist Chisako Kamiya and the gallery Jyun Garo.

Due to our members.. Nanae and Yuki.. has gone back to Japan this summer, we did the final charity & art stall in July. Thank you very much for helping Smile Japan! 

メンバーの和子です。仲間の河原奈苗と西村夕貴の日本帰国に伴い、７月のアートストール参加を最後に、３人のメンバーによるロンドンでのスマイル・ジャパンの活動はいったん節目を迎えました。
これまで協力して下さった皆様、本当にありがとうございました。

We transferred all the money to the organisation for the Tsunami Orphanage Fund, ippo kizuna no kai through the Yucho bank in Japan. 8270 yen is the amount of selling charity badges in Japan (left). 13,021 yen (left) was the amount we collect through Smile Japan including Kazuko's charity badges (105 pound in total = 120,21 yen), plus 1000 yen at the event at Ooita prefecture. This is the proof that I transferred these money.

集まったお金は、全て震災孤児基金の主催グループ、ippo絆の会に振込を致しました。以下の明細は、日本でのチャリティバッジの売り上げ８２７０円（左）と、ロンドンでのスマイル・ジャパンとバッジの売り上げ（１０５ポンド分を日本で換金）と、大分でのイベントでのバッジ売り上げ１０００円を足しまして１３，０２１円を同時に振り込み致しました。

We appreciate all the people we have met and share the idea to help people in Tohoku. We hope we will continue our charity activity in London or Japan.

The sum total of the previous donating amount we have held up till now and the profit from this time is,

It is true that the impact on the Japanese tsunami incident is dropping here in London, but we will keep appealing!!

SMILE JAPAN 2nd Market Report: 14th May

Our 2nd charity market stall was on 14th May at The Backyard Market Brick Lane which is same place of the first one. We really appriciate to lots of artists who contributed their art works for us, we could have more cherish market stall on Saturday. And Kasumi Nakazato (illustrator) and Yoshitaka Iwamoto (artist) supported to our stall, we would like to say thank you! for them.

５月１４日にSMILE JAPANの第二回目のマーケットストールを開催しました。
場所は第一回目と同じ場所Brick LaneにあるThe Backyard Marketです。
今回はイラストレーターの中里香澄さん、アーティストの岩本吉隆さんがお手伝いに来てくれてそしてたくさんのアーティストの皆様から作品を提供して頂き、とても華やかなストールになりました。そんな皆様に心より感謝申し上げます。



This time, a Japanese photographer Satoru Niwa brought to our market his printed pictures which he took at the several disastrous areas in Japan which suffered from tsunami and the explosion of nuclear power plant. The photos were filed to know the customers what was really going on in those areas. Some of the photos were truly shocking, however, in the end of the file, he put beautiful pictures of cherry blossoms from Shinjuku, Tokyo. It gave us the encouragement and the positive message at the same time.

また今回は報道写真家の丹羽さとるさんから災害を受けた地域を撮影した写真をご提供頂きました。お客様が現地の状況を知ることができるように、地震の大きな被害を受けた地域を中心に撮影した写真を一枚ずつファイルに入れました。ファイルの最後には丹羽さんが東京の新宿で撮影した美しい桜の写真が収められ見る側の心を癒してくれます。

Recently the weather in London is good but a bit chilly in most of the time. Also Brick Lane was quiet as it was not beautiful sunny and the foot ball match was held.
Despite we could not reach the last sales, we are really pleased many custumers came to our stall and contribute us with extra money.

最近のロンドンは日本の５月の気候と比べ物にならない涼しさ・・・むしろ寒く感じる日々です。昨日は天気も特に晴れることがなくそれに加えてサッカーの試合もあったようで、少し寂しいBrick Laneでした。前回の売り上げに届くことはできなかったものの、多くのお客様からご支援を頂くことができました。SMILE JAPANの活動はまだまだ続きます、応援よろしくお願い致します。

Second Charity Market

Our SECOND CHARITY EVENT is coming up!

At the same venue and on Saturday at the same opening time as the 1st stall we had in March, and we like this routine! However, our stall this time will be more upgraded by the new contributors' works. We will be able to sell a lot more prints and some crafts by the UK based fresh artists as well as the postcard collections, and also SMILE JAPAN members have topped up a couple of new works. Products at the stall will be priced friendly as usual.

We really appreciate those artists who offered us a help, thank you so much. We will try hard to make the most of it.

Japan is still under the difficult condition not only because of the nuclear power plant but also with the different factors caused by this disaster. It is important to keep our eyes on and keep our long-term activities.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday. Hope it'll be sunny like today!

1st Stall Sales & Donation Report

Here is the report of the sales and the donation details from our 1st charity stall.

26th March 2011,

Backyard Market at Brick Lane

Total sales: £ 293.57

All the proceeds will be donated to "Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund" by Japan Society. Please be patient a little bit more, we would like to report you here as soon as the donation is made.

As this small charity activity is organised by only 3 illustrators with no supportive fund, it seems to be essential for us to take at least the stall rental fee. This time We paid ￡35 for Saturday stall at The Backyard Market from the total sales.

Here is the calculation:

Total sales £293.57

− Stall rent £35

Total Donation £258.57

This time, we decided to donate to the earthquake relief fund by Embassy of Japan in the UK, while Japan Society is still under consideration.

全ての収益は、日本協会様主催の東日本大震災災害救援基金へ寄付させていただく予定です。できるだけ早く送金しこちらで報告いたしますので、もうしばらくお待ちください。

運営費の報告です。SMILE JAPANは、３人のイラストレーターが資金ゼロから始めたチャリティー活動です。これから長期的に活動を続けていく上で、いろいろと考慮した結果、毎回ストール使用料のみを売上金からいただくことを決断いたしました。つまり今回は、土曜日のバックヤードマーケットにおけるストール代￡35を、売上から支払わせて戴きました。

第一回募金額計算:

　売上高 £293.57

− ストール代 £35

募金額合計 £258.57

今回は在英国大使館による義援金へ寄付させて頂くことに決めました。上記のJapan Societyもこれからの募金先として考慮に入れています。

SMILE JAPAN初のストールでしたが、みなさまのおかげでこんなにたくさんの義援金を生むことができました。メンバー一同、心から感謝しています。これからも活動を続けていきたいと思いますので、どうぞよろしくお願いします！

Our 1st charity stall Report on 26th March

Our first charity market was set up at the Backyard Market in Brick Lane.
第1回目のチャリティストールは、ブリックレーンにあるバックヤード・マーケットで開かれました。


Each of us experienced some art stalls to sell own work but it was the first time for 3 of us to set up a charity stall like this. It was only one week preparation, and it has been very intense... we had been discussed almost every day. Lots of work have done so first because of the each member's hard work... making logo, setting up blog, facebook, e-mailing, making and giving away fliers, a sign board etc etc etc..

それぞれのメンバーがアートマーケットなどでの経験はありましたが、チャリティのアートマーケットは初めて。一週間しか時間がなかったにも関わらず、ものすごい集中力とスピードで、毎日、話し合いをしながら、ロゴを決め、ブログの設定、facebookのページ、広報用の文章の校正、メール配信、チラシ作りと配布、看板作成などなど一気に進めてきました。


Actually, the result was more than we expected.. Many people were interested in what we tried to do and they stopped by our stall. More than 100 cards and prints were sold in total, also some people just left us extra money for the donation. Many artists came along with their lovely work as well. We were impressed many people shows their respect for this project, and at the same time, we appreciated their warm heart...

結果は期待以上でした。多くの人たちが興味を持って、ストールに立ち止まってくれました。カードやプリントは100枚以上売れ、寄付をして欲しいとお金を余分に置いていって下さった方々もいらっしゃいました。沢山のアーティストも、自分の作品の寄付に来てくれました。こうして、色んな方々に活動について共感して頂き、その温かい心遣いにメンバー一同感謝したのでした。
